Aram Isabekyan was born on September 26, 1952. In 1976, he graduated from the Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts and Theatre, Painting Department. Since 1979, he has been teaching in the same institute. In 1990, he earned the associate professor’s title, and in 1992 – the title of professor.

Since 1982, he has been a member of Armenia’s Artists’ Union and UNESCO’s international artists’ association. Since 1994, Professor Isabekyan has been the Rector of the Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts.

In 1999, he was awarded the golden medal of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, and in 2001 – he received Movses Khorenatsi Medal. Since 2002, he has been a full member of the International Academy of Nature and Society Sciences. In 2002, he received the title of the honoured artist of the Republic of Armenia, and in 2010 – he received the title of the honorary doctor of Soka University, Japan. Since 2017, he has been an honorary doctor of the Tbilisi Academy of Fine Arts.

In 2018, by the decree of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Aram Isabekyan received the title of the People’s Artist of Armenia. Since 1976, he has participated in more than 200 international group exhibitions of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Armenia, USSR, Republic of Armenia, and other international associations, more particularly in Cairo Biennale (Egypt, 1976), Montreal, Toronto, and Ottawa exhibitions (Canada, 1977-1978), New York, Los Angeles, and Washington exhibitions (the USA, 1977-1978), Dante Biennale (Ravenna, Italy, 2001), “Armenian Still-life” exhibition (Yerevan, Armenia, 2009), “The Ignored Real” exhibition (Yerevan, Armenia, 2016), exhibitions organised at Tbilisi “Dmitri Shevardnadze National Gallery”, as well as in the exhibition dedicated to Francophony (2018) in “Albert and Tove Boyajian” gallery.

Isabekyan’s artworks are shown in different museums, galleries, and numerous private collections.
